Updates on the boys
I thought I would write a little about what the boys have been up to and some of the milestones they are reaching. Mason just turned 2 on the 13th of January and Hudson just turned 7 months on the 22nd of Januray. Both boys are doing really great and have a clean bill of health, which we are so very thankful for! We continue to pray for their health everyday, it is such a blessing to have healthy and happy children.
Mason:
Other than just turning 2, he has reached many milestones. He talks SO well! Anyone who spends any amount of time with him at all says the same thing. Some of his favorite things to talk about our his family. He is starting to go from being a complete "Mommy's Boy" to more of a Daddy's Boy lately. He is always very interested in everything Luke is doing. When he wakes up in the morning he always asks if Daddy is at work and then he tells me he wants to go to work with Daddy to help support our family! It is so cute. I always tell him Daddy has to go to work because he is supporting our family and tell him what a nice Daddy he has, who loves his family very much.
He is very into Thomas the train right now and loves to play with all of his trains he got for Christmas. He also loves reading books, he brings me about 10 books a day and we sit down and read them together. He recognizes everything in the books. His vocabulary is so large I think it may take me all day to sit here and type out everything he says now. And we all know a Mom of 2 doesn't have time for that :)
He is doing great with Potty training. We bought him some "big boy" underwear and been working on not having any accidents throughout the day. We still keep a diaper on him at night, we don't think he is quite ready for going overnight with no accidents yet. We also put a diaper on him whenever we are away from home so he won't have any accidents in the car or in public. We just want him to get used to potty training at home and we are letting him really go at his own pace and he is doing so good. We are very proud of him, he will ask to go use the potty and then we do a very silly looking "potty dance" after he goes :) Anyone who knows Mason well, knows the boy has moves!!! Then we usually go get a tiny M&M for after he goes. At first he was getting suckers, but he can't have that many suckers in one day, so we save the suckers for when he goes #2.
He is a wonderful big brother! He is usually very gentle with Hudson, but occasionally he trys to smash him...not unusual for a 2 year old though. He just has to get used to being very gentle with Hudson at all times. I do not think it is going to take long for Hudson to catch up to Mason's size. Mason just now hit the 23 lb. mark and Hudson is already 17.6 lbs.! In no time, Hudson will be ready to defend Mason's smothering :) Luke always says that Mason will be our engineer and Hudson will be our athlete, we will see if his predictions are correct :) Mason and Hudson are already best buddies. Mason asks where Hudson is every morning while I am changing him out of his pajamas and brushing his teeth. When they see each other first thing in the morning, they both have a huge smile on their face. All Mason has to do is go to Hudson and act like he is going to tickle him and Hudson just lets out the cutest belly laugh!
Hudson:
Well as I said earlier, Hudson is doing great and growing very well! He is 17.6 lbs and he is tall! He is in the 90% percentile for his height! Mason has been consistently in the 50% percentile for height. Hudson is such a happy baby. Hudson started sleeping through the night at 2 months old and has been consistently doing so since then. He has had a couple nights lately (because he has been sick, where he wakes up at 3am for a bottle and diaper change but then he goes right back to sleep.) It makes such a difference when Mommy and Daddy get their sleep! :) He sleeps anywhere from 8-10 hours at night, it is so great!
Hudson is not a fan of solid foods yet! He refuses to eat anything that we try and give him. I am not going to push it though, just keep offering it daily and if he doesn't eat it, I will try again the next day. I was really concerned at first but I asked his doctor about it and did some research and found it is not uncommon for kids to not want solid foods until they are anywhere from 9 months-1 year old. It was surprising to me though because Mason always ate anything we gave him, he still isn't very picky. He likes everything. Hopefully Hudson will discover he likes solid food soon. Luke did give him a little frosting from his birthday cake this year and of course Hudson loved it! I wasn't too thriled about that but Luke assured me the tiny bit he gave him wouldn't hurt anything. Go figure the one solid food he likes is sugar! :)
Hudson is very close to crawling, he is doing the army crawl only he goes backwards :) Mason did the same thing at his age, crawling forward will come soon!
I will update more later on but the boys are up from their naps and Mommy duty calls! :)
Hudson Cole Scott @ 7 months
Mason Wayne Scott @ 2 years
